Making Weight for IDPA
For those wanting to make the IDPA weight limit of 43 oz, below are two suggested areas for stock (metal) removal are pictured.
In the first image, we’ve machined staggered cuts in the male dovetail rib that holds the polymer rear grip insert.
In the second image, about 20 thousandths has been taken off the lower surfaces of the picatinny rail. We do not recommend taking any more metal off that surface than .020".
We’ve also seen images of some pistols that the users had bored a good number of rather large holes in the grip side panels, giving it a skeletonized appearance.
While we will support a customer in any fashion reasonable, however you choose to lighten / modify a frame, please be aware, that if an issue develops with a modified frame, we cannot accept any responsibility for a frame failure, should one occur. These frames are offered to allow users the ability to customize, but we cannot be responsible should that customization effectively weaken that frame, especially not knowing who did the work and how it was effected.
